Steve became a Christian when he was thirteen years old. He was influenced by wonderful Godly parents, as well as some special Bible class teachers at Central. He responded to God's invitation and was baptized by Warner Holloway, a long-time elder at this congregation. God keeps Steve busy trying to keep up the special gift named Jonathan. He and his mommy, Carol, are the sweetest part of his day-to-day life. He is blessed to work with two "schools", Dalton Middle School as a social worker, and Central's Bible School where he works with some of God's best creations, the Bible school coordinators and teachers. Steve graduated from David Lipscomb College with an undergraduate degree in Bible. God then blessed him with the wonderful opportunity to obtain a Masters degree in Family Studies from Abilene Christian University. He loves studying and teaching God's Word, and is blessed to be able to guide and influence our teaching ministry at Central as we seek to help people come to know, love, and follow Jesus. Steve prays that Central church of Christ will become a true family of God in this place and this time. He hopes to see us become a "safe" place in the midst of a frightening world. He asks that God lead us to be a church community where grace is taught and becomes the foundation for how all people are to be treated. He desires for us to share truth without compromise, but also without a spirit of contention and judgment. He wants our preaching and teaching to always have a relational emphasis as well as a doctrinal emphasis, realizing that community in the body of Christ is just as important as doctrine. He asks God to help us structure our church family life together in ways that nurture and sustain deep spiritual relationships that help bring healing, support and accountability. As God molds and shapes us into that community, he prays that He will give us the boldness to share all we have with a confused and lost world. You may contact Steve at
