News!
On
Sunday, June 8th, we will welcome Roy Johnson to the
Central church of Christ. Brother Johnson is the executive
director of the “Lads to Leaders & Leaderettes” program. Lads to
Leaders & Leaderettes is a program that has been used by churches of
Christ for 40 years to provide an effective year-round, Bible-based
youth leadership program for students from Kindergarten through
College.
Even
though Lads to Leaders & Leaderettes is directed at youth, this is
not just a youth program. It is a congregational program. Using
the Bible standard of the old teaching the young, adult mentors
assist the youth in training in various areas such as scripture
memorization, Bible reading, speech preparation and presentation,
debate, Bible bowl and song leading. This gets the entire
congregation involved and brings about a spirit of unity.
Brother
Johnson will conduct the Adult Bible Class in the Auditorium giving
an overview of the Lads to Leaders & Leaderettes program and how our
congregation can utilize this program. He will, also, conduct a
two-hour workshop for all families and members interested in being a
part of this program. This workshop will not be a “decision making
time,” but an informational and interest-gauging time.
Lads
to Leaders & Leaderettes is a sound and time-tested program that
has been successful at dozens of congregations with thousands of
kids. Our elders and I believe that Central can make this
program a success here, too. Let’s all make it a priority to
be at the building for Bible class, worship, and the workshop on the
8th
of June, so that we can begin a conversation that will lead to our
young people becoming great Christian leaders.
Grace and Peace,
Jonathan
